Roller chain is composed of roller, sleeve, pin shaft, inner chain plate and outer chain plate. The inner chain plate and the sleeve, the outer chain plate and the pin shaft are respectively connected by interference. There is clearance fit between roller and sleeve, sleeve and pin shaft. When the inner and outer chain plates are relatively flexed, the sleeve can rotate freely around the pin shaft. The roller looper is on the sleeve. When working, the roller rolls along the profile of the sprocket, reducing the wear of the profile. The wear of the chain mainly occurs on the contact surface between the pin shaft and the sleeve. Therefore, a little clearance should be left between the inner and outer chain plates so that the lubricating oil can penetrate into the friction surface between the pin shaft and the sleeve. The internal and external chain plates are made into 8-shape to make each section of the chain have similar tensile strength, and also to reduce the mass of the chain and the inertial force when it moves.
When the transmission chain is used, it is connected end to end to form a ring. When the number of chain links is even, the joint can be overlapped by inner and outer chain plates and locked by inserting a cotter pin or a spring clip. If the chain link is odd, only one transition link can be used to connect end to end. When the chain is in tension, the transition link will be subject to additional bending moment, so the chain with even link should be used as far as possible.
The basic parameters of engagement between roller chain and sprocket are pitch P, roller outer diameter D1 and inner link width B1. Pitch is the main parameter of roller chain. When the pitch increases, the size of each part in the chain will increase accordingly, and the power that can be transmitted will also increase. However, when the number of sprocket teeth is fixed, the larger the pitch is, the larger the sprocket diameter D is. In order to prevent d from being too large, when the load is large, the double row chain or multi row chain with small pitch can be used. The bearing capacity of multi row chain is proportional to the number of rows. The more columns, the higher the bearing capacity. However, due to the manufacturing and installation errors, it is difficult to make the load of each row uniform. The more the number of columns, the more serious the non-uniformity, so the number of rows should not be too much, generally not more than four columns. Considering the history and current situation of chain production in China, as well as the fact that the chain pitch in almost all countries in the world is in English units, the Chinese chain standard gb1243.1-83 stipulates that the pitch is converted into metric units in English. The chain number is consistent with the corresponding international standard chain number. The number of chain numbers multiplied by 25.4/16mm is the pitch value. Suffixes a or B denote a or B series, respectively. Series a is used for heavy-duty, important and high-speed transmission, while Series B is used for general transmission.
Tooth chain is also called silent chain. It is composed of a set of chain plates with two teeth, which are staggered and hinged on the left and right. The two sides of each tooth are working faces, and the tooth shape is straight. When working, the outer side of the chain tooth is meshed with the sprocket tooth to realize the transmission.
Features: stable operation, low noise, high allowable chain speed, good impact resistance, general transmission efficiency of 0.95 ~ 0.98, and good lubrication of 0.98 ~ 0.99. However, the price is high, the weight is large, and the installation and maintenance requirements are high.
